We are honoured to share with you that HINCare project, led by Prof. Reynold Cheng (HKUCS and Associate Dean of Engineering), got a certificate of merit award in the Smart People Category (Smart Ageing) category at the HKICT Awards competition 2021 -- top five teams among 73 contestants.

The HKICT Award was steered by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, and organised by Hong Kong ICT industry associations and professional bodies.

Here are the comments from the Judging Panel:

“This system offers a cost effective tool which helps to reduce costly expenses on NGOs practicing time-banking and volunteers matching.”

Many thanks to Prof. Terry Lum, Prof. Ben Kao, Dr. Luo Hao, Dr. Vincent Lau, HKU CS, and STAR lab colleagues for the keen support. We will do more to encourage mutual-help and volunteering culture.

Congratulations to the HINCare team on the Certificate of Merit at the HKICT Awards 2021, especially for the Smart Ageing Smart People Category. The judging panel’s emphasis on a cost-effective tool for time-banking and volunteer matching really highlights meaningful social impact. The details on strong collaboration also stand out. As someone working with NGOs and community programs, I’d love to see more projects like this. On the document side, TiPDF can be a practical way to convert, edit, annotate, and OCR supporting materials—pdf tools would help teams keep workflows organized.
